City Secretary / Director of Administrative Services

The City Secretary is an officer of the City of Canyon and serves as the liaison between the City's Administration and Elected Officials.

Other duties carried on by the City Secretary include:

  • Supervisor of the Human Resources Department, Communications and Community  Engagement Department, and IT Department
  • Authenticating and recording ordinances and resolutions
  • Preparing agendas for City Commission meetings and records minutes
  • Posting legal notices of meetings
  • Producing proclamations
  • Coding the City Code of Ordinances
  • Serving as a Notary Public of the State of Texas
  • Working with Randall County in the handling of elections for the City of Canyon
  • Administering oaths of office
  • Maintaining records of members on all council appointed boards and commissions
  • Serves as the Local Registrar of Vital Statistics
  • Serving as Custodian of Records for the City of Canyon
  • Administrating the property and liability insurance for the City of Canyon
  • Providing executive support to the City Manager as well as the Mayor and City Commission
