It's that time of year when there is an extreme chill in the air and sometimes the water in your pipes could freeze and the pipes could burst.
We don't want that to happen! Here are a couple of things you can do to prevent that from happening. (If you live in an older house, the odds of frozen pipes are higher.)
*Open cabinet doors (at sinks, where the pipes are) to allow the heat from the heater reach the pipes easier.
*Turn your inside faucets on to a slow drip to maintain a continuous flow (to lessen the chance of freezing).
*Cover outside faucets with faucet covers or wrap them with some type of insulating material.
If you think you have a frozen water meter, please contact the Public Works Dept. at 655-5011 or after hours call the Sheriff's Office at 468-5751 and we will come out to determine if the meter is frozen or not. If it is, we will thaw it out for you.
